Dr. Michael Kalichman, a distinguished member of the Division of Neuropathology within the Department of Pathology at UC San Diego, stands as a beacon of integrity in research ethics. With an illustrious career spanning decades, Dr. Kalichman has dedicated himself to promoting ethical conduct in scientific inquiry.
His journey into the realm of research ethics commenced in 1988 when he embarked on the noble endeavor of educating aspiring scientists about the ethical dimensions of their work. Over the years, Dr. Kalichman’s passion for instilling ethical values has led him to teach a multitude of courses and seminars tailored to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
In 1997, recognizing the critical need for a centralized hub dedicated to research ethics, Dr. Kalichman assumed the role of the founding director of the UC San Diego Research Ethics Program. Under his visionary leadership, the program has flourished, serving as a cornerstone for ethical inquiry and education within the academic community.
Dr. Kalichman’s expertise extends far beyond the confines of the classroom.
